Book Club

When I meet a gentleman, one of the first questions I will ask him is, “What are you reading right now?”

I find that the way he answers this one query will give me more insight than if I had asked him a thousand.

What someone reads is so indicative of who they are, and what they care about. The subject matters little. Whether you are into science, non-fiction, self help, history, or poetry--A voracious reader represents maturity, and intellectual strength that I find quite attractive.

I’ve always found bookstores to have a touch of romance to them. I love browsing through a quaint little nook full of eclectic tomes after a flirty brunch with a handsome fellow. There’s nothing quite as luxurious as spending an afternoon getting lost in a good book. While there are so many options these days for consuming media digitally, I strongly prefer to run my fingers along the spine of a vintage hardcover and smell the pages of a story that captures my imagination.

Whenever I fly between Washington, DC and New Orleans, I am always sure to keep a good book on hand to occupy time during take off and landing. Business autobiographies are my preferred genre, as I’m fascinated by the minds of successful people. Nothing turns me like a man’s intellect will, and the quickest way to arouse me is with a mature conversation about a mutual interest or passion.  I adore sharing my insights and discoveries that I find while reading with a gentleman of discerning taste.

While I love all sorts of gifts, I swoon when a man presents me with a book he loves, and in turn takes one of my recommendations so we can compare notes upon our next rendezvous.

Getting to share insights about a text we both cherish over a glass of wine or a decadent dinner is what I consider to be a true VIP encounter.
